Project
Suffolk University MAIA Program, Fall 2024 - Spring 2025
In my final two semesters in the Suffolk University Master of Arts in Interior Architecture program, I designed an agricultural education center with a rooftop greenhouse, teaching and service kitchen, and farmstand hall. The Charlestown Agricultural Education Center provides healthy, affordable, food to a community that lacks accessible grocery options. The Center partners with nearby schools and community gardens/urban farms to educate people of all ages about food and urban agriculture practices.

ABSTRACT
Urban community farms and gardens have long existed as economic tools for groups combatting food insecurity, environmental degradation, and the challenges of an increasingly urbanized world. They also act as vital contributors to civil unity, local pride, and social cohesion in towns and cities. Design that supports the social, educational, and outreach programs associated with community farms and gardens has the power to improve the health, well-being, and spirit of urban communities.
